Acts|13:1|-|Now there were in |a|Antioch, in the local |1b|church, |2c|prophets and |3|teachers: |4d|Barnabas and Simeon, who was called |5|Niger, and |6|Lucius the Cyrenian, and |7|Manaen, the foster brother of |8e|Herod the tetrarch, and |9f|Saul.
Acts|13:2|-|And as they were |1|ministering to the Lord and fasting, the |2|Holy |a|Spirit said, |3b|Set apart for Me now Barnabas and Saul for the |c|work to which I have |d|called them.
Acts|13:3|-|Then, when they had |1a|fasted and prayed and |2b|laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
Acts|13:4a|-|They then, having been sent out by the Holy |1|Spirit,|2|
Acts|13:4b|-|went down to Seleucia; and from there they sailed away to |a|Cyprus.
Acts|13:5|-|And when they were in Salamis, they announced the |a|word of God |1|in the |2b|synagogues of the Jews. And they also had |c|John as their |d|attendant.
Acts|13:6|-|And when they had passed through the whole island as far as Paphos, they found a certain man, a |a|magician and Jewish |b|false prophet, whose name was Bar-jesus,
Acts|13:7|-|Who was with the |1a|proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man; the latter called Barnabas and Saul to him and sought to hear the word of God.
Acts|13:8|-|But Elymas the |a|magician (for so his name is translated) |b|opposed them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the |1|faith.
Acts|13:9|-|But Saul, who is also |1|Paul, |2|filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him
Acts|13:10|-|And said, O you who are full of all deceit and all unscrupulousness, son of the |a|devil, enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the |1|straight ways of the Lord?
Acts|13:11|-|And now, behold, the |a|hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind, not seeing the sun for a time. And instantly a mist and a darkness fell upon him; and he went about and sought some to lead him by the hand.
Acts|13:12|-|Then the proconsul, seeing what had happened, believed, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.
Acts|13:13|-|And putting out to sea from Paphos, Paul and his companions came to |a|Perga of |b|Pamphylia; and |c|John |1|departed from them and returned to Jerusalem.
Acts|13:14|-|And they passed through from Perga and arrived at Pisidian |a|Antioch. And they went into the |b|synagogue |1|on the |c|Sabbath day and sat down.
Acts|13:15|-|And after the |a|reading of the |b|Law and the Prophets, the synagogue |c|rulers sent word to them, saying, |1|Men, brothers, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say it.
Acts|13:16|-|And Paul, rising up and motioning with his hand, said, |1|Men of Israel and |2|those who |a|fear God, listen.
Acts|13:17|-|The God of this people |a|Israel |b|chose our fathers and exalted the people during their sojourn in the land of |c|Egypt, and with a |1|high arm He |d|led them out of it.
Acts|13:18|-|And for a time of about |a|forty years |1|He carried them as a |b|nurse in the wilderness.
Acts|13:19|-|And when He had overthrown |a|seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributed their land as an |b|inheritance.
Acts|13:20|-|And after these things, for about |1|four hundred and fifty years, He gave them |a|judges until |b|Samuel the prophet.
Acts|13:21|-|And afterward they asked for a |a|king; and God gave them |b|Saul, the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.
Acts|13:22|-|And when He had |a|deposed him, He raised up |b|David for them as king, to whom also He testified and said, I have |c|found David, the son of Jesse, a man according to My |1|heart, who will do all My |d|will.
Acts|13:23|-|From this man’s |a|seed, God, according to |b|promise, brought to Israel a |c|Savior, Jesus,
Acts|13:24|-|After |a|John had proclaimed, |1|prior to His public entrance, a |2|baptism of |b|repentance to all the people of Israel.
Acts|13:25|-|Now as John was completing his course, he said, What do you |1|suppose that I am? I am |a|not the Christ. But behold, One is coming after me, the |b|sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.
Acts|13:26|-||1|Men, brothers, sons of the race of Abraham, and |2|those among you who |a|fear God, to us the |b|word of this salvation has been sent forth.
Acts|13:27|-|For those dwelling in Jerusalem and their rulers, being |a|ignorant of this One and of the |1|words of the prophets which are |b|read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by |2|judging Him.
Acts|13:28|-|And though they did |a|not find one cause of death in Him, they asked of |b|Pilate that He be done away with.
Acts|13:29|-|And when they had accomplished all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the |a|tree and laid Him in a |b|tomb.
Acts|13:30|-|But |1|God |a|raised Him from the dead.
Acts|13:31|-|And for many days He |a|appeared to those who had come up with Him from |b|Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now His |c|witnesses to the people.
Acts|13:32|-|And we |a|announce to you the gospel of the |b|promise made to the fathers,
Acts|13:33|-|That God has fully fulfilled this promise to us their children in raising up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, |a|“You are My Son; this day have I |1|begotten You.”
Acts|13:34|-|And as to His having |a|raised Him up from the dead, no longer to return to corruption, He spoke in this way, “I will give you |1|the |2|holy things of David, the faithful things.”
Acts|13:35|-|Therefore He also says in another place, |a|“You will not |1|allow Your Holy One to see corruption.”
Acts|13:36|-|Now David, having |1|served his own generation by the |a|counsel of God, did indeed fall |b|asleep and was |2|buried with his fathers and saw corruption;
Acts|13:37|-|But He whom |1|God has |a|raised did not see corruption.
Acts|13:38|-|Therefore let it be known to you, |1|men, brothers, that through this One |a|forgiveness of sins is announced to you;
Acts|13:39|-|And from all the things from which you were |a|not able to be justified |1|by the law of Moses, in this One everyone who |b|believes is |2c|justified.
Acts|13:40|-|Therefore beware that what is spoken in the prophets does not come upon you:
Acts|13:41|-||a|“Look, you despisers, and |b|marvel, and vanish away; for I am doing a work in your days, a work which you will by no means believe, though someone tells it to you in detail.”
Acts|13:42|-|And as Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people begged that these words would be spoken to them on the next |a|Sabbath.
Acts|13:43|-|And when the synagogue gathering had been dismissed, many of the Jews and the |a|devout |1b|proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to |c|continue in the |2d|grace of God.
Acts|13:44|-|And on the following Sabbath almost all the city gathered together to hear the word of God.
Acts|13:45|-|But when the |a|Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with |b|jealousy and contradicted the things being spoken by Paul and |c|blasphemed.
Acts|13:46|-|And Paul and Barnabas spoke |a|boldly and said, It was necessary for the |b|word of God to be spoken to you |c|first. Since you thrust it away and do |1|not judge yourselves |d|worthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the |e|Gentiles.
Acts|13:47|-|For so the Lord has commanded us, “I have set |1|you as a |a|light of the Gentiles, that you would be for salvation unto the |b|uttermost part of the earth.”
Acts|13:48|-|And the Gentiles, hearing this, rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were |1|appointed to eternal life |a|believed.
Acts|13:49|-|And the word of the Lord was carried through the whole region.
Acts|13:50|-|But the Jews |a|incited the |b|women of high standing who |c|worshipped God, and the chief men of the city, and |d|raised up a |e|persecution against Paul and Barnabas and |f|cast them out from their borders.
Acts|13:51|-|But they |a|shook off the dust of their feet against them and came to |b|Iconium.
Acts|13:52|-|And the disciples were |1|filled with |a|joy and with the Holy Spirit.
