Luke|18:1|-|And He told them a |a|parable to the end that they ought always to |b|pray and |c|not lose heart,
Luke|18:2|-|Saying, There was a certain judge in a certain city who did |a|not fear God and did not regard man.
Luke|18:3|-|And there was a |1|widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, |2|Avenge me of my |3|opponent.
Luke|18:4|-|And for a time he would not; but afterward he said within himself, Even though I do not fear God nor regard man,
Luke|18:5|-|Yet because this widow causes me trouble, I will avenge her, lest by continually coming she wear me out.
Luke|18:6|-|And the Lord said, Hear what the |a|unrighteous judge says.
Luke|18:7|-|And will not God by all means carry out the |a|avenging of His |b|chosen ones, who cry to Him |c|day and night, though He is |d|long-suffering over them?
Luke|18:8|-|I tell you that He will carry out their avenging quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man |1a|comes, will He find |2|faith on the earth?
Luke|18:9|-|And |1|He told this parable also to certain ones who |a|trusted in themselves that they were |b|righteous and despised the rest:
Luke|18:10|-|Two men |a|went up to the temple to pray, the one a |b|Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
Luke|18:11|-|The Pharisee |a|stood and prayed these things to himself: God, I thank You that I am |1|not like the rest of men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
Luke|18:12|-|I |1a|fast twice a |2|week; I |b|give a tenth of all that I get.
Luke|18:13|-|But the tax collector, standing at a distance, would |a|not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but |b|beat his breast, saying, God, be |1|propitiated to me, the |c|sinner!
Luke|18:14|-|I tell you, This man went down to his house |a|justified rather than that one; for everyone who exalts himself shall be |b|humbled, but he who humbles himself shall be exalted.
Luke|18:15|-|And they were bringing to Him also their |a|babies that He might touch them. But when the disciples saw this they |b|rebuked them.
Luke|18:16|-|But Jesus called them to Him, saying, Allow the little children to come to Me, and do not |1a|forbid them, for of such is the |2b|kingdom of God.
Luke|18:17|-|Truly I say to you, Whoever does not receive the |a|kingdom of God like a |1b|little child shall by no means enter into it.
Luke|18:18|-|And a |1|certain ruler questioned Him, |a|saying, Good Teacher, |2|what shall I do to |b|inherit |c|eternal life?
Luke|18:19|-|But Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me good? No one is good except One—God.
Luke|18:20|-|You know the commandments: “Do |a|not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not bear false witness, |b|honor your father and mother.”
Luke|18:21|-|And he said, |a|All these things I have kept from my youth.
Luke|18:22|-|And hearing this, Jesus said to him, Still you lack one thing: all that you have, |a|sell and distribute to the |b|poor, and you will have treasure in the |c|heavens; and come, |d|follow Me.
Luke|18:23|-|But when he |a|heard these things, he became very sorrowful, for he was exceedingly rich.
Luke|18:24|-|And Jesus, seeing that he became very sorrowful, said, How difficult it is for those who have |a|riches to go into the kingdom of God.
Luke|18:25|-|For it is easier for a camel to enter through the eye of a |1|needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Luke|18:26|-|And those who heard said, |1|Then who can be saved?
Luke|18:27|-|But He said, The things that are impossible with men are |a|possible with God.
Luke|18:28|-|And Peter said, Behold, we have |a|left our own things and have |b|followed You.
Luke|18:29|-|And He said to them, Truly I say to you that there is no one who has left house or wife or |a|brothers or parents or children |1|for the sake of the |b|kingdom of God,
Luke|18:30|-|Who shall not by all means receive back many times as much in |1|this time, and in the |a|coming age, |b|eternal life.
Luke|18:31|-|And taking the |a|twelve aside, He said to them, Behold we are |b|going up to |c|Jerusalem, and all things which have been written through the prophets regarding the Son of Man will be |d|accomplished,
Luke|18:32|-|For He will be |1a|delivered up to the Gentiles and will be |b|mocked and outrageously treated and |c|spat upon;
Luke|18:33|-|And when they have |a|scourged Him, they will kill Him; and on the |b|third day He will rise.
Luke|18:34|-|And they understood none of these things, and this saying was |a|hidden from them, and they did not know what was being said.
Luke|18:35|-|And as He |1a|drew near to |b|Jericho, a certain |c|blind man was sitting by the road, begging.
Luke|18:36|-|And hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what this might be.
Luke|18:37|-|And they told him that Jesus the |a|Nazarene was passing by.
Luke|18:38|-|And he shouted, saying, Jesus, |1a|Son of David, have mercy on me!
Luke|18:39|-|And those going before |a|rebuked him so that he would be silent, but he cried out much more, Son of David, have mercy on me!
Luke|18:40|-|And Jesus, standing still, commanded that he be led to Him. And when he drew near, He questioned him,
Luke|18:41|-||1|What do you want Me to |a|do for you? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight!
Luke|18:42|-|And Jesus said to him, Receive your sight; your |a|faith has |1|healed you.
Luke|18:43|-|And instantly he received his sight and followed Him, |a|glorifying God. And all the people, seeing it, gave |b|praise to God.
