Matt.|4:1|-|Then |1|Jesus was led up into the |a|wilderness by the Spirit to be |2b|tempted by the |3c|devil.
Matt.|4:2|-|And when He had |a|fasted |1b|forty days and forty nights, afterward He became |c|hungry.
Matt.|4:3|-|And the |1a|tempter came and said to Him, If You are the |2b|Son of God, speak that these |3|stones may become loaves of bread.
Matt.|4:4|-|But He answered and said, |1|It is written, |2a|“Man shall not live on |3|bread alone, but on every |4b|word that proceeds out through the |5|mouth of God.”
Matt.|4:5|-|Then the devil took Him into the |a|holy city and set Him on the |1|wing of the |2b|temple,
Matt.|4:6|-|And said to Him, If You are the |a|Son of God, |1|cast Yourself down; for |2|it is written, |b|“To His angels He shall give charge concerning You, and on their hands they shall bear You up, lest You strike Your foot against a stone.”
Matt.|4:7|-|Jesus said to him, |1|Again, it is written, |a|“You shall not |2|test the Lord your God.”
Matt.|4:8|-|Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the |1a|kingdoms of the |b|world and their |c|glory.
Matt.|4:9|-|And he said to Him, |1|All these will I give You if You will fall down and |a|worship me.
Matt.|4:10|-|Then Jesus said to him, Go away, |1a|Satan! For it is written, |b|“You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him |2c|only shall you serve.”
Matt.|4:11|-|Then the devil |1|left Him, and behold, |2a|angels came and ministered to Him.
Matt.|4:12|-|Now when He heard that |a|John was delivered up, He |1|withdrew into |b|Galilee.
Matt.|4:13|-|And leaving |a|Nazareth, He came and dwelt in |b|Capernaum, which is beside the sea in the borders of |c|Zebulun and |d|Naphtali,
Matt.|4:14|-|In order that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying,
Matt.|4:15|-||a|“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way to the sea, beyond the Jordan, |1|Galilee of the Gentiles:
Matt.|4:16|-|The people sitting in darkness have seen a |1|great |a|light; and to those sitting in the region and shadow of death, to them light has risen.”
Matt.|4:17|-|From that time Jesus began to proclaim and to say, |1a|Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.
Matt.|4:18|-|And while He was walking |a|beside the |1|Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, |b|Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, |2|casting a |3|net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
Matt.|4:19|-|And He said to them, |a|Come after Me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Matt.|4:20|-|And immediately leaving the nets, they |1a|followed Him.
Matt.|4:21|-|And going on from there, He saw another two brothers, James the son of Zebedee and |a|John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, |1|mending their nets; and He |b|called them.
Matt.|4:22|-|And immediately leaving the boat and their father, they |1a|followed Him.
Matt.|4:23|-|And Jesus went about in all of Galilee, teaching in their |1a|synagogues and proclaiming the |2b|gospel of the kingdom and |c|healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
Matt.|4:24|-|And the report concerning Him went out into all of Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those afflicted with various diseases and torments and those |a|possessed by demons and epileptics and paralytics; and He healed them.
Matt.|4:25|-|And great |1a|crowds followed Him from Galilee and |2|Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan.
