Matt.|5:1|-|And when He saw the |a|crowds, He |1|went up to the |b|mountain. And after He sat down, His |2|disciples came to Him.
Matt.|5:2|-|And |a|opening His mouth, He taught them, saying,
Matt.|5:3|-||1|Blessed are the |2a|poor in |3|spirit, for theirs is the |4b|kingdom of the heavens.
Matt.|5:4|-|Blessed are those who |1a|mourn, for they shall be |2b|comforted.
Matt.|5:5|-|Blessed are the |1a|meek, for they shall |2b|inherit the earth.
Matt.|5:6|-|Blessed are those who hunger and |a|thirst for |1b|righteousness, for they shall be |2c|satisfied.
Matt.|5:7|-|Blessed are the |1a|merciful, for they shall be |2|shown mercy.
Matt.|5:8|-|Blessed are the |1a|pure in heart, for they shall |2b|see God.
Matt.|5:9|-|Blessed are the |1a|peacemakers, for they shall be called the |2b|sons of God.
Matt.|5:10|-|Blessed are those who are |1a|persecuted for the sake of |b|righteousness, for |2|theirs is the |c|kingdom of the heavens.
Matt.|5:11|-|Blessed are you when they |1a|reproach and |b|persecute you, and while speaking lies, say every |c|evil thing against you |2|because of Me.
Matt.|5:12|-||a|Rejoice and exult, for your |1b|reward is great in the heavens; for so they |c|persecuted the |2|prophets who were before you.
Matt.|5:13|-||1|You are the |2a|salt of the earth. But if the salt has become |3b|tasteless, with what shall it be salted? It is |c|no longer good for anything except to be |4d|cast out and |5|trampled underfoot by men.
Matt.|5:14|-|You are the |1a|light of the world. It is impossible for a |2b|city situated upon a mountain to be hidden.
Matt.|5:15|-|Nor do men light a |a|lamp and place it under the |1|bushel, but on the |2b|lampstand; and it shines to all who are in the house.
Matt.|5:16|-|In the same way, let your light |a|shine before men, so that they may see your |1b|good works and |2c|glorify your |3|Father who is in the heavens.
Matt.|5:17|-||1|Do not think that I have come to abolish the |a|law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish, but to |2b|fulfill.
Matt.|5:18|-|For truly I say to you, Until |1a|heaven and earth pass away, one |2|iota or one |3|serif shall by no means pass away from the law until all come to pass.
Matt.|5:19|-|Therefore whoever annuls one of the |a|least of these |1|commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called the |b|least in the |c|kingdom of the heavens; but whoever practices and teaches them, he shall be called |d|great in the kingdom of the heavens.
Matt.|5:20|-|For I say to you that unless your |1a|righteousness surpasses that of the |2|scribes and Pharisees, you shall by no means |3b|enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
Matt.|5:21|-|You have heard that it was said to the ancients, |a|“You shall not murder, and whoever murders shall be liable to the |b|judgment.”
Matt.|5:22|-|But |1|I say to you that everyone who is |2a|angry with his |3|brother shall be liable to the |4b|judgment. And whoever says to his |3|brother, |5|Raca, shall be liable to the judgment of the |6c|Sanhedrin; and whoever says, |7|Moreh, shall be liable to the |8d|Gehenna of fire.
Matt.|5:23|-|Therefore if you are offering your |1a|gift at the |2b|altar and there you remember that your |c|brother has |3|something against you,
Matt.|5:24|-|Leave your gift there before the altar, and |1|first go and |2|be |a|reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Matt.|5:25|-|Be well disposed |1|quickly toward your |2a|opponent at law, while you are with him |3|on the way, lest the opponent |4|deliver you to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.
Matt.|5:26|-|Truly I say to you, You shall by no means |1|come out from there until you |a|pay the last |2|quadrans.
Matt.|5:27|-|You have heard that it was said, |a|“You shall not commit adultery.”
Matt.|5:28|-|But I say to you that everyone who |a|looks at a woman in order to lust after her has already committed |b|adultery with her in his |1c|heart.
Matt.|5:29|-|So if your right |a|eye stumbles you, |1|pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish than for your whole body to be cast into |2b|Gehenna.
Matt.|5:30|-|And if your right |a|hand stumbles you, |1|cut it off and cast it from you, for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish than for your whole body to pass away into |b|Gehenna.
Matt.|5:31|-|And it was said, |a|Whoever |1|divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.
Matt.|5:32|-|But I say to you that |1|everyone who |a|divorces his wife, except for the cause of |2|fornication, causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries her who has been divorced commits adultery.
Matt.|5:33|-|Again, you have heard that it was said to the ancients, |1a|“You shall not break an oath, but you shall |2b|render to the Lord your oaths.”
Matt.|5:34|-|But I tell you |a|not to swear at all; neither by |1b|heaven, because it is the throne of God;
Matt.|5:35|-|Nor by the |a|earth, because it is the footstool of His feet; nor unto Jerusalem, because it is the |b|city of the great King;
Matt.|5:36|-|Neither shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.
Matt.|5:37|-|But let your word be, |1a|Yes, yes; No, no; for anything more than these is |2|of |3|the |b|evil one.
Matt.|5:38|-|You have heard that it was said, |a|“An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.”
Matt.|5:39|-|But I tell you |a|not to resist him who is evil; rather whoever |b|slaps you on your right cheek, |1|turn to him the other also.
Matt.|5:40|-|And to him who wishes to |a|sue you and take your |1|tunic, yield to him your cloak also;
Matt.|5:41|-|And whoever compels you to go one |1|mile, go with him two.
Matt.|5:42|-|To him who asks of you, |1a|give; and from him who wants to |b|borrow from you, do not turn away.
Matt.|5:43|-|You have heard that it was said, |a|“You shall love your neighbor and hate your |b|enemy.”
Matt.|5:44|-|But I say to you, |a|Love your enemies, and |b|pray for those who |c|persecute you,
Matt.|5:45|-|So that you may become |1a|sons of your Father who is in the heavens, because He causes His sun to |b|rise on the evil and the good and |2|sends |c|rain on the just and the unjust.
Matt.|5:46|-|For if you |a|love those who love you, what |1|reward do you have? Do not even the |2|tax collectors do the same?
Matt.|5:47|-|And if you greet only your brothers, what better thing are you doing? Do not even the |a|Gentiles do the same?
Matt.|5:48|-|You therefore shall be |1a|perfect |b|as your heavenly Father is perfect.
