Mark|8:1|-||1|In those days, since there was again a great crowd and they did not have anything to eat, He called the disciples to Him and |a|said to them,
Mark|8:2|-|I am |1|moved with compassion for the crowd, because for three days now they have |1|remained with Me and they do |1|not have anything to eat.
Mark|8:3|-|And if I send them away to their home hungry, they will |1|faint on the way; and some of them have |1|come from a distance.
Mark|8:4|-|And His disciples answered Him, Where will anyone be able to get enough to satisfy these people with bread here in this desolate place?
Mark|8:5|-|And He asked them, How many loaves do you have? And they said, Seven.
Mark|8:6|-|And He charged the crowd to recline on the ground. And taking the seven loaves, He |a|gave thanks and broke them, and gave them to His disciples to set before them, and they set them before the crowd.
Mark|8:7|-|And they had a few small fish, and having blessed them, He said that these also should be set before them.
Mark|8:8|-|And they ate and were satisfied. And they took up the |a|surplus of broken pieces, |1|seven baskets.
Mark|8:9|-|And |1|there were about four thousand people. And He sent them away.
Mark|8:10|-|And |a|immediately He got into the boat with His disciples and came into the parts of |1|Dalmanutha.
Mark|8:11|-||1|And the |2a|Pharisees came out and began to dispute with Him, seeking from Him a |3b|sign from heaven and |c|tempting Him.
Mark|8:12|-|And He |1a|groaned deeply in His spirit and said, Why does this generation seek a sign? Truly I tell you, |2|No sign shall be given to this generation.
Mark|8:13|-|And leaving them, He again got into a boat and went away to the other side.
Mark|8:14|-|And they forgot to take bread, and except for one loaf, they did not have any with them in the boat.
Mark|8:15|-|And He charged them, saying, Watch! Beware of the |1a|leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of |b|Herod.
Mark|8:16|-|And they reasoned with one another, |1|saying, It is because we do not have bread.
Mark|8:17|-|And Jesus, |a|knowing it, said to them, Why are you reasoning because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor |b|understand? Do you have your heart |c|hardened?
Mark|8:18|-|Having eyes, do you |a|not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?
Mark|8:19|-|When I broke the |a|five loaves for the five thousand, how many handbaskets full of broken pieces did you take up? They said to Him, Twelve.
Mark|8:20|-|And when I broke the seven for the four thousand, how many baskets filled with broken pieces did you take up? And they said, |a|Seven.
Mark|8:21|-|And He said to them, Do you not yet |a|understand?
Mark|8:22|-|And they came to |a|Bethsaida. And they brought to Him a |1|blind man and entreated Him to touch him.
Mark|8:23|-|And He |1a|took hold of the hand of the blind man and |2|led him forth outside the village. And He |3b|spat on his eyes and |4c|laid His hands on him and asked him, Do you see anything?
Mark|8:24|-|And he looked up and said, I |1|see men, for I see them as trees, walking.
Mark|8:25|-|Then again He laid His hands upon his eyes, and the man looked intently and was |1|restored, and he began to see all things clearly.
Mark|8:26|-|And He sent him to his house, saying, Do |1|not even enter into the village|2|.
Mark|8:27|-||1|And Jesus and His disciples went out into the villages of |a|Caesarea Philippi. And on the way He questioned His disciples, saying to them, |b|Who do men say that I am?
Mark|8:28|-|And they told Him, saying, |a|John the Baptist; and others, |b|Elijah; but others, one of the prophets.
Mark|8:29|-|And He questioned them, But you, who do you say that I am? Peter answered and said to Him, You are the |a|Christ!
Mark|8:30|-|And He charged them |1|not to tell |a|anyone concerning Him.
Mark|8:31|-||1|And He |a|began to teach them that the |b|Son of Man must suffer many things and be |c|rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be |d|killed and after |e|three days |f|rise.
Mark|8:32|-|And He spoke this word |a|openly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him.
Mark|8:33|-|But turning around and looking at His disciples, He rebuked Peter and said, Get behind Me, |a|Satan! For you are not setting your |b|mind on the things of God, but on the things of men.
Mark|8:34|-|And He called the crowd to Him with His disciples and said to them, If anyone wants to follow after Me, let him deny himself and take up his |a|cross and follow Me.
Mark|8:35|-|For whoever wants to save his |a|soul-life shall lose it; but whoever will lose his soul-life for My sake and the |b|gospel’s shall save it.
Mark|8:36|-|For what does it profit a man to |a|gain the whole world and forfeit his soul-life?
Mark|8:37|-|For what could a man give in |a|exchange for his soul-life?
Mark|8:38|-|For whoever is |a|ashamed of Me and of My words in this |b|adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him when He |c|comes in the glory of His Father with the |d|holy angels.
