B. |Identification with Christ6:1-23
1. |Identified — vv.|1-5
Rom.|6:1|-|What then shall we say? |a|Should we continue in sin that |b|grace may abound?
Rom.|6:2|-|Absolutely not! We who have |a|died to sin, how shall we still live in it?
Rom.|6:3|-|Or are you ignorant that all of us who have been |1a|baptized into |2|Christ Jesus have been |1|baptized into |3|His death?
Rom.|6:4|-|We have been |1a|buried therefore with Him through |2|baptism into His death, in order that just as Christ was |b|raised from the dead through the |3c|glory of the Father, so also we might |4|walk in |d|newness of |e|life.
Rom.|6:5|-|For if we have |1|grown together with Him in the |2|likeness of His death, indeed we will also be |3|in the |2|likeness of His resurrection,
2. |Knowing — vv.|6-10
Rom.|6:6|-||1|Knowing this, that our |2|old man has been |3a|crucified with Him in order that the |4b|body of sin might be |5|annulled, that we should no longer serve sin as slaves;
Rom.|6:7|-|For he who has died is justified from |1|sin.
Rom.|6:8|-|Now if we have |a|died |1|with Christ, we believe that we will also |b|live |1|with Him,
Rom.|6:9|-|Knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, |a|dies |1|no more; death lords it over Him no more.
Rom.|6:10|-|For the death which He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life which He lives, He lives to God.
3. |Reckoningv.|11
Rom.|6:11|-|So also you, |1|reckon yourselves to be |a|dead to sin, but living to God in Christ Jesus.
4. |Presenting — vv.|12-23
Rom.|6:12|-||1|Do not let |a|sin therefore reign in your mortal body so that you obey |2|the body’s |b|lusts;
Rom.|6:13|-|Neither |a|present your |b|members as |c|weapons of unrighteousness to sin, but |1|present yourselves to God as alive from the dead, and your members as |2|weapons of righteousness to God.
Rom.|6:14|-|For |a|sin will not |1|lord it over you, |2|for you are |3|not under the law but under |b|grace.
Rom.|6:15|-|What then? |a|Should we sin, because we are not under the law but under grace? Absolutely not!
Rom.|6:16|-|Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves as slaves for obedience, his slaves you are whom you obey, whether of sin |1|unto death or of obedience |1|unto righteousness?
Rom.|6:17|-|But thanks be to God that though you were |a|slaves of sin, you have obeyed from the heart the form of teaching into which you were delivered.
Rom.|6:18|-|And having been |1a|freed from sin, you were enslaved to righteousness.
Rom.|6:19|-|I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves to uncleanness and lawlessness unto lawlessness, so now |a|present your members as slaves to righteousness |1|unto |2b|sanctification.
Rom.|6:20|-|For when you were |a|slaves of sin, you were free with regard to righteousness.
Rom.|6:21|-|What fruit then did you have at that time? Things of which you are now ashamed, for the end of those things is death.
Rom.|6:22|-|But now, having been |a|freed from sin and enslaved to God, you have your fruit unto |1b|sanctification, and the end, |c|eternal |2|life.
Rom.|6:23|-|For the |1|wages of sin is |2a|death, but the gift of God is |3b|eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
